Blog Post 001 - Welcome to Girl on Earth
Hello internet! I'm Liv and this is my blog Girl on Earth. There couldn't be more of a simple decscriptor for me as
that. I chose the name because 1. I am a girl on Earth. 2. I think it's cool - and isn't that the only thing that
really matters here? and 3. It reminds me of the existential nature of the human condition! A topic that I too often
think about.
As you may or may not have read on my homepage / about me page... I had the idea to make this site and started
exploring neocities back in spring of 2025 but quickly lost motivation. Over the past couple of days though, I felt inspired!
And I'm so happy I did because I made this cool site and am now typing my first blog post!
One of my many reasons for making this site was because I kept wishing that I had an online space to share
things that didn't feel so ... scary? The internet nowadays is not as friendly of a place as it once was - I guess many
people share the same sentiment due to the rise of the indie web.
Back in the 2010s, I was online all the time and I found
community in fandom which really helped me get through high school. It's been frustrating and sad to see the
state of the internet deteriorate with spaces that used to be safe becoming more
mainstream, as well as tiktok taking over everything and just the constant rage-baiting, cancel-culture, and arguments everywhere.
Unfortunately, I still find myself scrolling on reels and youtube when I'm bored or when I want to feel numb. You
know I actually realized maybe a month ago how quickly scrolling short-form content turns off your emotions.
It's genuinely scary and made me want to stop for good. Anyways, I've been craving to have an online space where
I can just be me again so this is it!
This is also the first step of me tapping back into my creativity. Building this site has been the first time in ages where
I have felt creatively motivated and inspired and where I've just made something for myself!
I've spent so long thinking that I'm not good enough or creative enough but I hope to push past
that and become my most creative self.
Thanks for reading this if you did. Until next time!
